General information
The PALEOMAGIA database is intended for the use of the global geo- and paleomagnetic research community to allow an easy access to Precambrian paleomagnetic data. In addition to the data published in Global Paleomagnetic Database [Pisarevsky, 2005] , it includes a wealth of new information mostly gathered from peer-reviewed journals and also some archival data omitted from GPMDB. The database runs MySQL technology and its user interface has been developed using HTML, Javascript and server-side PHP scripts.
In November 2014, PALEOMAGIA database undergone significant improvements during Toni Veikkolainen's visit to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego. These include the improved age reference table, dynamically generated pole list with permanent links available, several corrections to article titles in the main data table and a possibility to select certain Precambrian continents, rather than cratons, as a search criterion. PALEOMAGIA is also now more closely linked to the MagIC database with permanent links, and the fruitful cooperation with the MagIC database team will continue in the future to ensure that PALEOMAGIA data are also available in MagIC.

PALEOMAGIA is being updated at certain intervals when new Precambrian paleomagnetic data has been published. You can also suggest your own data to be added to PALEOMAGIA using online form. Although original peer-reviewed research articles are preferred when PALEOMAGIA is being updated, submission of conference abstracts is also possible if they incorporate adequate paleomagnetic information. The database managers retain the right to include or exclude the data, depending on its relevance. Old database versions are available upon request.

The completion of PALEOMAGIA database is a result of long-lasting co-operation between the leading paleomagnetists of the world. Despite the great deal of efforts to make the database as complete and accurate as possible, some errors may prevail. Neither the University of Helsinki, nor the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, nor any of the authors of this database, is responsible for the inconvenience possibly resulting from incorrect information. Users are free to use this database as a reference, but are also requested to check the original data from the publications whenever available. In certain rare cases, reasonable recalculations have been done before adding data to PALEOMAGIA.
